Athénée

Rewriting history.

The elegant and luxurious surroundings of this historical meeting spot have welcomed some of the greatest personalities of the past century including Odysseas Elytis, Nikos Gatsos, Manos Hadjidakis, Melina Mercouri, Sophia Loren, Anthony Quinn and many others.

The area in Voukourestiou and Panepistimiou has been transformed into a new favourite destination – a new neighborhood with a European atmosphere where Greeks and foreign visitors can go for a stroll and enjoy something to eat or drink at the tables and bar of  Athénée.

The menu bears the signature of award winning executive chef Nikos Skliras, and features international cuisine, traditional Greek recipes and a sushi section. The traditional Sunday brunch, carefully selected dishes of the day, a theatre menu and after shopping meet-ups set the atmosphere in what is the most cosmopolitan spot in Athens.

The cocktail designer, Myrsini Spaneli, adds a twist to classic drinks which she has designed herself or which have been designed by the Hybrogardeners at the bar lab, setting the foundations for a fine drinking experience. Legendary classics come alive with the venue’s creative menu. Some of the drinks served are faithful to the original recipe while others are designed with modern techniques and have a Greek twist. The bar serves drinks with a history, from many different eras but particularly dating back to  pre 50s – Tiki culture, and Fancy Bubbles & Aperitivos with Perfect Gin & Tonics, Spritzes and Low abv cocktails.

The walls of this beautiful venue are decorated with works from famous Greek and foreign artists and they are regularly updated.

Athénée has managed to give Athens back its stylish glamour, and is a magnet for the most interesting people throughout Greece and abroad. It is the “place to be” in the city, and it is writing its brilliant new story.
